Our second online project meeting had three parts. In the first part, the participants, students, teachers and professors from the university introduced themselves.
We all have the pleasure to host Dr. Loukas Vlachos, professor at the Astrophysics Department of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and Dr. Manolis Georgoulis, researcher at the Research Center for Astronomy and Applied Mathematics in Athens.
In the second part, the students presented their works, talked about the various challenges they encountered while working on the creation of a base on the moon. They had the opportunity to talk with professors about different aspects of the moon base. The professors asked students interesting questions, to which sometimes it was not easy to find an answer. They were interested in everything. How did they work, how did they divide into teams, how did they distribute responsibilities, where did they decide to set up their base and why there. In what way did they decide to communicate with Earth, how did they solve the issue of food and air for the residents of the base.We have a feeling that we should have held such a meeting before the very start of the project. After the meeting, we all have a lot more information about the construction of a house like this.Building a station on the moon will definitely be demanding.Students and teachers learned a lot in that hour and a half.
In the third part of the meeting, we talked about occupations of the future, that is, occupations that will be related to space. The students had many questions for the professors, and they tried very hard to answer them. All in all, a very intense and meaningful meeting.
