Moon Inhabitation Reseach.
How to make it happen
3rd Activity: Research all the factors that need to be taken under consideration for achieving a future Moon inhabitation
In this activity, the students will be divided into 5 groups and they will be assigned with a set of specific questions, that they will need to answer via research. By the end of this activity, the students will have to prepare five presentations (one presentation per team) with their research results, using the shared presentation tool, Google Slides.
On the following table you can read three columns. On the first column there are the students' names that participate in each team. On the second column there are the topics that each team will research and on the third column there are the links to the shared tools, more specifically, the google documents for your notes to keep while doing your research and the google slides that each team will use for the final presentation.

SUBJECT 1 – CHOOSING A LOCATION
A) Where do you want to build your MoonCamp?
e.g.
- near the poles?
- near the equator?
- on the far side of the Moon?
- in the area of lunar seas (lava areas)?
- in Shackleton Crater?
- any other location?
B) - For what reasons did you choose this particular location?
- You can search for information regarding the geological conditions on the Moon, the raw material to build the mooncamp, existence of water, etc..

SUBJECT 2 – BUILDING MATERIALS
- What materials will you use to build your MoonCamp?
- Can we use the raw material that we will find on the surface and in the subsoil of the Moon?
- If we have to transport materials from Earth, what materials would they be?
- Is there a limit to the weight that can be carried by the spaceship?
- Could we use 3D printing technology?

Supervisor: Christiana Matentsidou
Research Topic
SUBJECT 3 – ENERGY, WATER & OXYGEN
- Search for energy sources (eg solar energy? thermal? other source?). How will it be used? (eg Using flexible solar panels. How would these be transported? Could they be made on the Moon? How?)
- How could we produce the oxygen that is necessary for the life of the astronauts and that is also important to be used for rocket propulsion?
- In addition to oxygen, what other matter participates in rocket propulsion?
- How could we provide the water that would be necessary for the long-term living of the astronauts on the Moon?

SUBJECT 4 – AIR – PROTECTION – CLOTHING – PHYSICAL & MENTAL HEALTH
- Is there an atmosphere on the Moon? How could we make the oxygen necessary for the life of a-astronauts and for rocket propulsion?
- What pressure and temperature conditions must be obtained for the safe living of astronauts and in what way?
- How could the camp be protected from falling meteorites on the surface of the Moon and from solar radiation?
- Astronaut clothing inside the work and living area, as well as outside
- What is the physical burden experienced by astronauts? In what ways is it treated?
- What is the psychological burden they suffer? In what ways is it treated? (eg tablets, digital games)

SUBJECT 5 – NUTRITION
- Nutritional needs of astronauts (nutrients, information about their health).
- How could we privide food for astronauts? With what kind of crops could this goal be achieved? (eg hydroponics)
- How will the needs in water be met?
